Inflow-and-Infiltration (I&I) continues to be an issue for the overloading of sanitary sewer systems in Canada. I&I causes basement flooding, sanitary sewer overflows into the environment, reduced system capacity, increased treatment costs to the taxpayer, and reduced efficiency of sewage treatment plants.

That’s where Infrastructure Intelligence Services (I2S) Inc. can help.

With dedicated teams, I2S works alongside stakeholders to identify and recommend ways of removing/ reducing I&I in their sewer systems. This includes implementing smoke/dye and investigative measures to confirm the sources of I&I and providing well-rounded remedial action plans to allow clients to incorporate the actions into their financial plans.

“With the staggering pace of ongoing residential/commercial/ industrial development, we find that many municipalities, developers, and property owners are finding it increasingly difficult to manage, nevertheless, prioritizing the maintenance and repair of their existing utilities,” says Paul Fleischer, the President of Infrastructure Intelligence Services (I2S) Inc. “At I2S, we focus on providing our clients with “asset management ready” deliverables and user friendly data.”

When delivering sewer inspection reports, I2S offers GIS mapping services to allow clients to acquire data in an organized fashion. By using a GIS format, the company allows clients to review information at a high level or be able to drill down and undertake a detailed qualitative review.
I2S’s GIS mapping includes linked reports and asset management coding to allow the user to readily identify their utility assets that require immediate attention.

I2S’s team prides itself on providing high-quality deliverables that can be used in a practical way to help clientele manage their systems under Regulatory requirements for Municipal Entities to develop and implement Asset Management Plans with its core values as “Integrity-Collaboration- Performance.”

I2S also provides Professional Engineer-prepared Risk Management Plans to provide the necessary protective steps for clients who undertake higher-risk construction activities over top of sensitive subsurface utilities. These risk management measures include conducting subsurface utility Engineering activities, including daylighting to verify the depth of utilities and existing soil cover within the area(s) of concern. Coupled with CCTV investigations to document the internal condition of the sewer(s), I2S’s Risk Management Plans include recommendations for contractors to protect the underlying utilities during their construction activities.
